Soccer Camp 2017

Living Word will hold its annual Soccer Camp from June 26 to June 30 this year.

For kids age 4 through going into 8th grade

Living Word’s Soccer Camp is right around the corner. We hold the camp at Rivers Crossing Park (3703 Rivers Crossing Drive), in the subdivision just south of Waukesha West High School.

Last year our camp grew from 64 to 96 participants, and we are shooting for over 125 this year! Come and be a part of it!

We hope your children can attend and bring their friends. They’ll learn soccer skills, be entertained by skits, meet new friends, and most importantly, learn more about their Savior Jesus in daily soccer-related devotions.

All participants will receive a jersey.

Make sure they bring a water bottle.

Have them dress appropriately for the weather. If hot and sunny, hats, sunscreen, and light clothing. If cool or rainy, jackets or sweatshirts.

In the event of a lightning storm, we will usher all children under the pavilion at the park and into the bathrooms if needed. We will play through light rain. Notice the weather policies on the application and note that we will post any cancellation or postponements online.

For safety, we want the kids (especially older kids) to wear shin guards, though they can still play if they forget. Soccer shoes are optional but encouraged.

What to Expect

We have a number of high school and college students and coaches who help teach the kids soccer skills in an encouraging atmosphere. We have plenty of drills and games to have them hone the new skills they're developing.

The kids learn good sportsmanship and how to get along with others, all the while creating lasting friendships. Most importantly, they will hear about their Savior Jesus through daily devotions and skits.

It's a ton of fun!

New This Year

We’re expanding things this year in two ways:

1) The youngest group, ages 4-5, will also have crafts and games along with learning basic soccer skills. We learned over the past couple of years that keeping 4-year-olds playing soccer for 3 hours doesn’t always work, so we’ll incorporate Day Camp elements this year. The Faith Quest teachers from Living Word will be joining to help, so we know they’ll love it!

2) Instead of going through only 5th grade, we’ll now offer a higher skills camp for those going into 6th through 8th grades. We want to give them the skills they’ll need if they want to make a soccer team in high school. This group will have more freedom and scrimmages, but more will be expected of them as well. It’s from this group that we’ll be looking for junior leaders for future soccer camps. Local coaches and current high school and college players will lead the group.

Dates and Times

The camp is June 26-30, 9:00 AM to noon each day.

On Friday, parents and grandparents are invited to join us at 11:00 AM to see what the kids learned and even to join in if you want! We'll conclude the camp with a BBQ at noon for participants and their families, so bring a big appetite.

Cost

Normally, a quality camp like this would cost from $80 to $100, but because of generous donations by local businesses, the cost is only $35 if paid by June 5. You can show your appreciation by visiting those businesses!

After June 5, the cost is $40, which is still a fantastic deal.

The cost includes the jersey for each participant and all the food you and your family can eat at the BBQ.

So register today and pay by June 5 to get the early bird discount!

Note that, even though online payments will be processed through PayPal, you do not need a PayPal account to register.

If you have any problems registering online, please contact Living Word immediately.
